Each landmark in Nasik was pretty far from one another. We first went to Panchavati, a religious place with temples, river and pilgrims taking holy dip. The parking area was almost full, but we eventually got some since place, thanks to a few drivers who winningly took their vehicles little away, to make space for Nano.

Second place was Dada Saheb Phalke Memorial, located on the outskirts of city, off Mumbai Highway. A nice hillock on the backdrop (with some caves on it) would be the place I'll explore next time when I visit Nasik...

Day20: Kolhapur: Nanos at Tararani Chowk, Kolhapur

Shalini Palace, Kolhapur

Hotel Shalini Palace in Kolhapur is a wonderful building. It was a palace constructed in 1931-34, at a cost of Rs 8 lakhs (relatively, Shaniwar Wada in Pune was built at a cost of just Rs 16000 (full details)

The palace is located on the bank of Rankala lake, has lots of greenery around and is a perfect place to relax. Room rents range from Rs 1500 to 6000 (for the top end Maharaja Suite)

Shalini Palace was also the host for our Customer Meet, nano Carnival in Kolhapur.

However, I find that campus is not so well maintained. Lots of beer bottles, broken metal pieces and other disposable items are found thrown around within the campus...

Nanos in front of Vidhana Soudha, Bengaluru

Vidhana Soudha is the most prominent and powerful building in the Garden city of Bangalore. Vidhana Soudha houses state legislative assembly and was built by Kengal Hanumantayya in 1950s

After the photo session at nearby Cubbon Park, we took the nanos in front of Vidhana Soudha and took some pics of Nano with Vidhana Soudha in the background. However this was very challenging, due to various factors. The road infront of Vidhana Soudha is one of the busiest. We didn't have the luxury of parking the cars as per our wish and had to take shots while cars moved slowly. It was fairly difficult to get a perfect shot of 3 cars, with Vidhana Soudha in background and with no traffic in between.

Day 17: Chennai-Bengaluru-Flag off pics

We began Day 17 with lots of energy and enthusiasm. Team had got good rest, only 390 kms to be covered in the day, roads were superb and next destination was Bengaluru.

Transport Commissioner Mr M Rajaram (right most in below photo) flagged us off from Concorde Motors, Velachery main road in Chennai.He was visibly concerned about a road accident that had happened in Chennai the previous night, wherein 8 people of a wedding party died as the truck in which they were travelling toppled over, owing to drunken driving by the truck driver.

Mr Jairam discussed various precautionary measures with tata motors officials (such as discouraging trucks from carrying passengers instead of cargo, calling a meeting with truck owners association to discuss safety measures etc)

Day 16/26: Chennai Landmark pics

Nanos visited several prominent Chennai landmarks.

Marina beach is Asia's longest city beach and is a must visit for any visitor of Chennai. Starting from lighthouse near Santhome till Anna Memorial on the other end, the drive is very scenic and during the evening (more so during weekends), half of Chennai can be found here... (The other half will be at Besent Nagar beach ;... just exaggerating) )
